Anthropic has opened applications for its AI Safety Fellows Program 2026, a four-month paid research fellowship focused on empirical AI safety research.
The program will run in two cohorts starting in May and July 2026, with applications closing on January 12, 2026.

The fellowship offers mentorship from Anthropic researchers, access to shared workspaces in London and Berkeley, and remote participation options in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Fellows will receive a weekly stipend of $3,850 (USD), £2,310 (GBP), or $4,300 (CAD), along with additional funding for compute and research expenses.

Anthropic said more than 80% of previous fellows produced publishable research, while over 40% later received full-time job offers.
