Google is bringing real-time voice conversations to Gmail, Docs and Keep, allowing users to search their inbox, draft documents and organize notes simply by talking.

The new features, announced on September 3, use Gemini Audio models and are designed to make several everyday Workspace tasks conversational rather than keyboard-based.

How Gmail Live Searches Your Inbox

In Gmail, the new Gmail Live feature lets users search their inbox by asking questions in natural language.

Instead of opening messages and searching through email threads, users can ask questions such as where their flight departs from or what is happening at their child's school that week. Gmail Live scans the inbox and returns relevant information.

What Docs Live Can Do

Google is also adding Docs Live, which turns voice conversations into structured documents.

Users can talk through an idea or brainstorm out loud while Docs Live organizes their thoughts, structures the document and helps create a first draft. With permission, it can also pull relevant information from Gmail, Google Drive, Chat and the broader web.

How Keep Live Organizes Spoken Ideas

The third feature, Keep Live, is designed for less structured ideas.

Users can speak freely into Google Keep, and the feature can turn that stream of thoughts into organized notes and lists.

The new tools go beyond traditional voice dictation. They can search for information, organize ideas and structure content based on a spoken conversation.

The features are rolling out this week to Google AI Plus, Pro and Ultra subscribers for Gmail Live and Keep Live, while Docs Live is rolling out to Pro and Ultra subscribers.
